Sunoco Transportation handles all surface logistics operations and economics for the business units of Sunoco, Inc. 

Activities performed involve rail, tank truck, and truckload deliveries and include the following functions:
   
  • Carrier rate negotiations
     
  • Carrier service for all rail and truck deliveries to Sunoco's customers
     
  • Operation of a 5800 car private rail fleet that includes tank and hopper cars
     
  • Operation of three private railroad contract switching operations at two refineries and one chemical plant
     
  • Management of carrier safety performance
     
  • Operation of seven systems supporting the data requirements of our customers

The Transportation group resides in the Sunoco Chemicals business unit yet handles the needs of all operating divisions of Sunoco, Inc. including:

  • Sunoco Chemicals

  • Sunoco Logistics

  • Sunoco Marketing

  • Sunoco Refining & Supply
