With the purchase of
Aristech Chemical Corporation's 1.5 billion pounds of
polypropylene capacity, Sunoco placed itself among the top five
producers of polypropylene. The acquisition added two
strategically located production facilities. The first
located in Neal, West Virginia, uses state-of-the-art
manufacturing technology and is centrally located within the
largest polypropylene consuming markets. The second plant
located in LaPorte, Texas started its newest line in September
1999 and is capable of producing a wide range of specialized
value-added products. These production facilities coupled
with customer-focused operating personnel, deliver consistent,
quality products that meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

Our
newly acquired polypropylene product line is comprehensive
and is used in everything from baby diapers to automobile
bumpers. The newest line at LaPorte provides the
ability to further differentiate our product line making
specialized products for future markets. A
customer-focused Technical Service and Product Development
group supports the product line. Whether its assisting in
fine tuning a customer's process to maximize |
| production
or developing a new product that meets a customer's
specific needs, the technical group works closely with our
customers to deliver a quick response. |
The polypropylene
business acquired from Aristech delivers a broad product line,
excellent technical support, quick response, and a willingness to
make new products for demanding applications. To this Sunoco
adds financial discipline and a streamlined organizational
structure which gives this polypropylene business the strength to
endure the downturns in the market and to continue to deliver
value to our customers.
