Sunoco has won the 2001 Union Pacific Railroad Chemical Transportation Safety Pinnacle award for the sixth consecutive year. Sunoco has won the award since its inception and is one of only two shippers to be a six-time winner of this award. Other companies fall into the less than 500 tank car category. Sunoco is in the 1,000 to 3,000 tank car category.  

To qualify, shippers must have no non-accident releases (NARs) on Union Pacific's  railroad trackage during the year. Winners in each category are also selected based on safe loading techniques and securement of shipments.

This is truly an outstanding accomplishment for the Sunoco personnel responsible for tank car loading/ unloading and securement. Sunoco has spent countless hours training employees and instituting programs and procedures, stressing the importance of regulatory compliance and proper tank car securement.
