What is
Orthoxylene?
Orthoxylene is an isomer of mixed xylene which is
extracted through further distillation. It is primarily used as a feedstock for the
production of phthalic anyhdride which goes into the plasticizers
market, primarily in flexible
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material. Manufacturing Information
Through a joint venture partnership with Suncor Energy Inc., Sunoco Chemicals markets
orthoxylene which is manufactured at Suncor's Sarnia,
Ontario, Canada refinery. It is transported by railcar, truck and parcel tanker.
Orthoxylene is extracted from xylene through further distillation. |
